Annual Book & Author Luncheon
Mark your calendars for a literary feast, the 7th Annual Book and Author Luncheon!
This very popular event takes place Saturday, May 11th from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM , at the Peninsula Golf and Country Club in San Mateo.
This year we are fortunate to have three outstanding authors whose works sound themes of family and loss in very different and compelling ways.
New York Times best selling author Julia Scheeres is a journalist and non-fiction writer. Her newest book, A Thousand Lives, an account of the Jonestown settlement and mass murder, is a story of blind loyalty and daring escapes, of corrupted ideals and senseless, haunting loss.

Nationally acclaimed author Michelle Richmond has a special connection to the Burlingame Library, which she used while writing her N.Y. Times bestseller, The Year of Fog. In her most recent novel, No One You Know, the main character’s search for the truth behind her sister’s long unsolved murder leads her to examine the story of her own life and relationships.
Donia Bijan is a chef and former local restaurateur. Her heartwarming memoir, Maman’s Homesick Pie: A Persian Heart in an American Kitchen, chronicles her family’s flight from revolutionary Iran and their subsequent journey to a new life using the language of food and her mother’s recipes.
The Book and Author Luncheon is our signature event and the funds we raise enable the Library Foundation to fulfill its mission of providing support for our local library. You, our generous sponsors, are a major part of this effort. The Foundation’s specific goals are to enhance the collection, provide access to state of the art information technology, preserve our historic buildings, and support creative programs that enrich the community. Proceeds from the event help keep the Library’s budget sufficient to meet demand, ensuring that access to classes, databases, collections, and special events are available to those who need them.
