featuring Children’s book illustrator LeUyen Pham

LeUyen Pham (pronounced LeWin) was born in Vietnam, in 1973, and settled in the United States in 1975, when her family fled Saigon.
Growing up in Southern California, LeUyen began drawing at an early age. She graduated in 1997 with a degree in Illustration from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and began work as a layout artist for DreamWorks Feature Animation.
In 1999, LeUyen left DreamWorks to pursue children's book illustration full time. She has since become a prolific and best selling illustrator of many children’s books including Grace for President by Kelly DiPucchio and Freckleface Strawberry by Julianne Moore. She has also written and illustrated her own works, including Big Sister, Little Sister which chronicles her own relationship with her older sister LeChi and was originally designed as a birthday present for her.
She has illustrated picture books, board books, chapter books and graphic novels and has won several awards. One of Uyen's great pleasures is traveling. She has visited Southeast Asia, Australia, Africa, Russia, and Europe, to name a few. She has lived in Paris and volunteered in Russia, teaching English and computer skills to children. Her main goal is to touch each continent (Antarctica included) in the next few years. She sketches everywhere she goes.
LeUyen now lives and teaches in San Francisco with her husband and two sons. Please visit her whimsical website: www.leuyenpham.com.
