Gift Acceptance Policy
The Burlingame Library Foundation has develoepd a Gift Acceptance Policy that outlines the types of gifts that the foundation is authorized to receive to ensure that both the donor and the foundation are protected from future unintended liability.
The Gift Acceptance Policy includes policies on gifts of
- Cash
- Tangible Personal Property
- Securities
- Partnership Interests
- Real Property
- Retained Life Estate In Real Property
- Oil, Gas, and Mineral Interests
- Bargain Sales
- Life Insurance
- Charitable Remainder Trusts
- Pooled Income Funds
- Charitable Lead Trusts
- Beneficiary Designations
- Bequests
- Irrevocable pledges
- Other Property
- Retirement Plans
Donors and supporters of the BLF will be encouraged to make bequests to the BLF through their wills and trusts. Such bequests will not be recorded as gifts to the BLF until such time as the gift is actually received however donors who notify the foundation of their intended bequest will be eligible for membership in the Escoffier Society.
