The 7th Annual Book & Author Luncheon was this past Sunday at the Peninsula Golf and Country Club. The Book and Author Luncheon is our signature event and the funds we raise enable the Library Foundation to fulfill its mission of providing support for our local library. The Foundation’s specific goals are to enhance the collection, provide access to state of the art information technology, preserve our historic buildings, and support creative programs that enrich the community. Proceeds from the event help keep the Library’s budget sufficient to meet demand, ensuring that access to classes, databases, collections, and special events are available to those who need them. At this year's Book and Author Luncheon on May 11, three local authors, Julia Scheeres, Michelle Richmond and Donia Bijan, entertained over 200 guests at the Peninsula Golf and Tennis Club. Their writing excerpts and personal stories riveted the audience and helped raise thousands of dollars for the Library Foundation through corporate and individual sponsorships, event and raffle ticket sales, and fund-a-need.
