FREDDY COLE CONCERT IS SOLD OUT!
Jazz musician Freddy Cole will honor his late brother, Nat "King" Cole, on Friday, June 7, with a Centennial Concert commemorating the legendary performer’s 100th birthday at the Burlingame Public Library at 480 Primrose Road. Presented by the Burlingame Library Foundation and Jazz at the Ballroom, the concert will feature the Freddy Cole Quartet and Freddy’s son Lionel Cole, with an introduction by Seth Berg, executor of the Nat Cole estate.
Freddy Cole, who was born 12 years after his brother Nat, has been praised by The New York Times as having “an impeccable sense of swing, like his brother. … He is, overall, the most maturely expressive male jazz singer of his generation, if not the best alive.” He began playing the piano at age 5 or 6 and studied at the Juilliard School of Music. A longtime resident of Atlanta and four-time Grammy nominee, he was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2007 and was nominated for Grammy Awards in the “Best Jazz Vocal Album” category in 2010 and 2018.
